Well we've been monitoring the traps along Exhibition Drive for a number of weeks now, and have been getting good results. One possum trap has had a possum in it each time we've checked, and the goodnature traps have seen to numerous rats.
We are currently talking with Watercare on extending the traps along the rest of Exhibition Drive, and increasing the trap density.
EcoMatters Environment Trust has approved our Love Your Neighbourhood funding application. This provides us with access to up to $500 to utilise in placing possum and rat traps in the Waima to Laingholm area.
Once we've purchased these traps we will be looking to make them available for loan to neighbours in the Waima to Laingholm area.
With the support from Watercare, we have begun establishing Timms & Goodnature traps along Exhibition Drive. Approximately half of the track has been covered, with the traps have been placed at approximately 100m intervals. With further donations and support, it is planned to cover the rest of Exhibition Drive, and eventually increase the density of traps to 50m intervals.
We will be checking the traps and recording what we find every few weeks. Say hi if you see us out there!
